Check us out at gagmewithaspoon.com. Real instruments are occasionally involved. But this time we've followed up our all-toy Metallica bastardization with a Rush bastardization. Stay tuned next week for some Dream Theater ultra-bastardy bastardosity.
Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher" (off their album 1984), performed on a Roland JD-800 keyboard. Sequenced on a Korg 01/WFD. I made the guitar patch completely from scratch...
This synth dates all the way back to 1984, as does my inner adolescent as I attempt to explain the very first trick I ever learned on a synthesizer: How to enter unison, or monophonic (solo) mode. My synth sounds like crap in this mode. Maybe yours sounds better? Watch and pretend that learning is fun!
A cross between a Roland JX-3P and PG-200, done up in white! Just messing around with this old Boston tune. Also using its sister synth, the Juno-106, for backing strings. Off camera is a Korg 01/W for my typical old school arranging for backing tracks.
Made back in 2003, here's me with all my hair creating RAB5 the old fashioned way, using paper and pens, scanner, etc. Yuck! Nowadays I use a tablet to draw everything right on the screen. Nevertheless, I made around 40 short animated films the way described in this video. Enjoy.

Unreleased track written in 1994 with some really unusual scales and soloing techniques. Synths used: Roland V-Synth (custom Angelmuse mod), Korg 01/W, and Roland JD-800.
Quick demo of an awesome analog modeling keyboard, listed on eBay 23-Jan-2007. "Trilogy Suite Op. 5" by Yngwie Malmsteen is performed, and a little bit of "Subdivisions" by Rush thrown in for good measure. :o)
Here's a snappy little tune in a not very dance-able 11/8. I stuck a few more solos in there than there really should be. If you like this kind of nefarious note-noodling you'll love my Parallax CDs on umop.com/parallax.ht m
Sure, the keys are smaller than salamander toes. That doesn't mean you can't try and play a squillion notes per second, now does it? Enjoy yet another blistering array of wankadoo note slurrying by Uncle Dave!
More music on umop.com!
Putting the mental in instrumental, once again... Another odd ditty... this one grooves in an alternating 15/8 and 4/4... more epileptic dancing fun for everyone! Backing tracks & rock organ part are all Garage Band... such a great program. Meanwhile, the Nord Lead, Access Virus kb, and trusty old Korg 01/W are along for the ride, with Cthulhu riding shotgun.
An outtake of a recent video interview I made for SonicState.com when my Himalayan kitten (Dusty) steals the show and starts playing synth music behind me that actually sounds pretty friggin' good. That jerk. It's bad enough that he's better looking, but I figured I at least had all the talent up in here's.
