A "then and now" look at the filming locations from the 1969 western "True Grit," starring John Wayne, Kim Darby, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper. The film was shot in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado and we found many of the filming locations nearly 40 years later.

This is a sped-up version of the 1-hour trip over Corkscrew Pass from Silverton to Ironton in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Lots of switchbacks, vertical drops and fantastic mountain vistas.

This video drives you from the airport through downtown Telluride, Colorado. At the end of the video is where the famous Black Bear Road begins, next to Bridal Veil Falls and the Power Station.

We offroaded in the snow outside Ouray, Colorado on Camp Bird Road to Yankee Boy Basin to see the autumn colors. We started at about 7,800 feet in elevation and ended at 11,500 feet.
This 45-minute trip is completed in only 10 minutes in this sped up version. Travels the scenic and harrowing Million Dollar Highway from Ouray to Silverton, Colorado in the San Juan Mountains.
The U.S. Basin Forest Road in San Juan County, Colorado, takes you high above U.S. Basin, where you travel a ridge that's above 12,000 feet in elevation. You can see the Million Dollar Highway (Hwy 550) from the summit, as well as have an amazing 180-degree view of the surrounding mountains. The road begins in the Red Mountain Mining District.
This is dedicated to my Australian Shepherd, Scooter, who spent almost 14 years by my side. He loved the Colorado mountains, camping, Jeeping, playing in the snow and chasing sticks into streams. He is missed. Every day.

This is a look at Animas Forks, a former mining town and current ghost town outside Silverton, Colorado.
Animas Forks is where the Jeep roads Engineer Pass Road and Cinnamon Pass Road come together. Also nearby are Hurricane Pass and California Pass, as well as many MANY old mines.

Took this drive today over 12,126 foot Cottonwood Pass outside Buena Vista, Colorado and saw lots of wildflowers. Also drove through the Midland Railroad Tunnels in Buena Vista, which run next to the Arkansas River.
